Abstract
The invention provides methods and kits for measuring the ability of a test sample to inhibit the binding of a receptor expressed by a pathogen to a host cell ligand of the pathogen.
Claims28
A method for measuring the ability of a sample to inhibit the binding of a receptor expressed by a pathogen to a host cell ligand of said pathogen, said method comprising
- (a) contacting a first surface comprising said receptor immobilized thereto with
- (i) said sample;
- and
- (ii) a particle reagent comprising said ligand;
- (b) measuring the amount of said particle reagent bound to said first surface, wherein said measuring step comprises measuring the amount of a detectable label attached to said particle reagent, and wherein said sample comprises an antibody to said receptor and said measuring step further comprises determining the ability of said antibody to inhibit the binding of said receptor to said ligand;
- and
- (c) thereby measuring the ability of a sample to inhibit the binding of a receptor expressed by a pathogen to a host cell ligand of said pathogen.
