Abstract
A lighting device for a vehicle includes a lighting module for a vehicle having a light source and a panel optically coupled to the light source. The panel includes a plurality of fibers, and a first illumination region of first light output for a first vehicle lighting function and a second illumination region of second light output for a second vehicle lighting function.
Claims17
A lighting module for a vehicle, comprising:
- a light source;
- and
- a panel optically coupled to the light source and comprising a plurality of fibers, wherein the panel includes a first illumination region of first light output for a first vehicle lighting function, the first light output being provided via planar light emission from the plurality of fibers, and
- a second illumination region of second light output for a second vehicle lighting function wherein a distal end of the plurality of fibers is connected to a cap forming an end of the panel and the cap providing the second light output via axial light emission from the distal end of the plurality of fibers for the second vehicle lighting function.
1 more element
A method of manufacturing a lighting module for a vehicle, comprising:
- providing a light source for generating light;
- providing a panel optically coupled to the light source and comprising a plurality of optical fibers arranged in a predetermined form to define a plurality of illumination regions from which light is emitted to satisfy a plurality of respective vehicle lighting functions of a fiber array wherein a distal end of the plurality of fibers is connected to a cap forming an end of the panel and the cap providing a first light output via axial light emission from the distal end of the plurality of fibers for a vehicle lighting function, and wherein a second light output is provided via planar light emission from the plurality of fibers.
