Abstract
A method is provided for measuring an opening of an appendage of an atrium of a subject, the method including inserting a catheter into the atrium of the subject. At least one loop is deployed from a wall of the catheter, such that a distal end of the loop is distal to a distal end of the catheter. The loop is used to measure the opening of the appendage.

A method for measuring an opening of an appendage of an atrium of a subject, the method comprising:
- inserting a catheter into the atrium of the subject;
- thereafter, deploying at least one loop from a wall of the catheter, such that a distal end of the loop is distal to a distal end of the catheter;
- and
- thereafter, using the loop to measure the opening of the appendage,
- wherein the loop includes a longitudinal member that passes through a first opening and a second opening in the catheter wall, and
- wherein deploying the loop comprises deploying the loop by passing the longitudinal member through at least one of the first and second openings.
