Abstract
A hand vacuum cleaner wherein the suction motor axis of rotation is generally parallel to the central longitudinal axis and when the hand vacuum cleaner is oriented with the upper end above the lower end, the suction motor axis of rotation is positioned above the central longitudinal axis.
Claims15
A hand vacuum cleaner having a handle, an upper end, and a lower end, the hand vacuum cleaner comprising:
- (a) a suction motor and fan assembly having a suction motor axis of rotation;
- (b) an air treatment member having a front end, a rear end, and a central longitudinal axis extending between the front and rear ends;
- and
- (c) an air inlet conduit having an inlet conduit axis,
- wherein the suction motor axis of rotation is generally parallel to the central longitudinal axis and when the hand vacuum cleaner is oriented with the inlet conduit axis positioned above the central longitudinal axis, the suction motor axis of rotation is positioned above the air treatment member, and
- wherein when the hand vacuum cleaner is oriented with the inlet conduit axis positioned above the central longitudinal axis, the handle has a lower portion and an upper portion and the lower portion of the handle is positioned at an elevation of a pre-motor filter and the upper portion of the handle is positioned at an elevation of the suction motor.

A hand vacuum cleaner having a handle, an upper end, and a lower end, the hand vacuum cleaner comprising:
- (a) a suction motor and fan assembly having a suction motor axis of rotation;
- (b) a cyclonic cleaning stage comprising a single cyclone, the single cyclone having a front end, a rear end, and a central longitudinal axis extending between the front and rear ends, and
- (c) an air inlet conduit having an inlet conduit axis,
- wherein the suction motor axis of rotation is generally parallel to the central longitudinal axis and when the hand vacuum cleaner is oriented with the inlet conduit axis positioned above the central longitudinal axis, the suction motor axis of rotation is positioned above the single cyclone.
