Abstract
The present invention relates to a new and distinctive canola, designated G6667223H. Also included are seeds of canola G6667223H, to the plants, or plant parts, of canola G6667223H and to methods for producing a canola plant produced by crossing the canola G6667223H with itself or another canola genotype, and the creation of variants by mutagenesis or transformation of canola G6667223H.
Claims20
A seed of canola designated G6667223H, wherein a representative sample of seed of said cultivar was deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-124275.
A method of introducing a desired trait into canola G6667223H, wherein the method comprises:
- (a) crossing a G6667223H plant, wherein a representative sample of seed was deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-124275, with a plant of another canola cultivar that comprises said desired trait to produce F1 progeny plants, wherein said desired trait is selected from the group consisting of male sterility, herbicide resistance, insect resistance, and resistance to bacterial disease, fungal disease or viral disease;
- (b) selecting one or more progeny plants that have said desired trait to produce selected progeny plants;
- (c) crossing the selected progeny plants with the G6667223H plants to produce backcross progeny plants;
- (d) selecting for backcross progeny plants that have said desired trait and physiological and morphological characteristics of canola G6667223H to produce selected backcross progeny plants;
- and (e) repeating steps (c) and (d) three or more times to produce selected fourth or higher backcross progeny plants that comprise said desired trait and produce seeds comprising fatty acids comprising at least about 70% oleic acid less than about 3% α-linolenic acid.
