Abstract
The present invention relates to engineered cyanuric acid hydrolase enzymes that are resistant to hypochlorite and compositions and devices comprising such enzymes. The present invention also relates to methods of using these enzymes, compositions and devices for the treatment of a liquid, such as water.
Claims28
A hypochlorite resistant cyanuric acid hydrolase (CAH) enzyme comprising an amino acid sequence having at least 70% sequence identity to SEQ ID NO:1, SEQ ID NO:3, SEQ ID NO:4 or SEQ ID NO:5, wherein the amino acid sequence comprises an alanine, serine, glycine, dehydroalanine, homoserine or an amino acid having a cyclopropyl or an ethyl side chain at residue 46.
A hypochlorite resistant cyanuric acid hydrolase (CAH) enzyme comprising an amino acid sequence having at least 70% sequence identity to SEQ ID NO:1, SEQ ID NO:3, SEQ ID NO:4 or SEQ ID NO:5, wherein the amino acid sequence comprises an amino acid at residue 46 that does not block access to the active site of the enzyme and that does not react with hypochlorite to form a reaction product that blocks access to the active site of the enzyme.
A hypochlorite resistant cyanuric acid hydrolase (CAH) enzyme comprising an amino acid sequence having at least 70% sequence identity to SEQ ID NO:1, SEQ ID NO:3, SEQ ID NO:4 or SEQ ID NO:5, wherein the amino acid sequence comprises a non-oxidizable amino acid at residue 46.
