Abstract
A composition comprising a Sanguisorbae officinalis plant extract and at least one additional plant extract selected from the group consisting of an Ailanthus altissima plant extract, a Galla rhois gallnut plant extract, a Glycyrrhiza Glabra plant extract, a Rheum palmatum plant extract and a Scutellaria baicalensis plant extract is disclosed. Compositions comprising Ailanthus altissima plant extract or Ailanthone are also disclosed.

A method of treating atopic dermatitis in a subject in need thereof, the method comprising administering to the subject a therapeutically effective amount of a composition comprising 0.5-2.0 (v/v) water extracts of each of Rheum palmatum, Cnidium Monnieri, Scutellaria baicalensis, Sanguisorbae officinalis, and Ailanthus altissima, wherein the extracts are produced by water extraction and further purified using a resin chromatography comprising macroporous resin.
