Methods and systems for transmission of arbitrary data via bluetooth HFP audio connections with low latency

An apparatus comprising:

• a byte generator configured to:
• receive a bit pattern that is representative of a binary data sequence;
• and
• generate a multi-bit data byte sequence that is representative of the bit pattern, wherein the multi-bit data byte sequence includes, for at least one bit in the bit pattern, the byte generator further configured to:
• (i) output a larger-valued multi-bit data byte that is larger than a current byte-sequencer reference data byte according to a first criteria, and
• (ii) output a smaller-valued multi-bit data byte that is smaller than the current byte-sequencer reference data byte according to a second criteria;
• and
• an encoder configured to encode the generated multi-bit data byte sequence, and for each generated multi-bit data byte, (i) output a single bit whose value is indicative of whether the generated multi-bit data byte is larger or smaller than a current reference multi-bit data byte and (ii) update the current reference multi-bit data byte based on the generated multi-bit data byte.

An apparatus comprising:

• circuit means for receiving a bit pattern that is representative of a binary data sequence;
• circuit means for generating a multi-bit data byte sequence that is representative of the bit pattern by, for at least one bit in the bit pattern:
• (i) outputting a larger-valued multi-bit data byte that is larger than a byte-sequencer reference data byte according to a first criteria, and (ii) outputting a smaller-valued multi-bit data byte that is smaller than the byte-sequencer reference data byte according to a second criteria;
• and
• circuit means for encoding the generated multi-bit data byte sequence by, for each generated multi-bit data byte:
• (i) outputting a single bit whose value is indicative of whether the generated multi-bit data byte is larger or smaller than a current reference multi-bit data byte and (ii) updating the current reference multi-bit data byte based on the generated multi-bit data byte.
