A sweetness enhancing composition comprising:
- a water dispersible, food-compatible, core particle consisting essentially of silica in direct intermolecular association with a sweetener carbohydrate having an enhanced sweetness as compared to a comparable amount of said carbohydrate in a free unassociated form.
