Abstract
A LIBS analysis system and method for liquids wherein a handheld LIBS analyzer has a nose section through which a laser beam passes. A sample holder positioner is attached to the nose section of the hand held LIBS analyzer. A sample holder is receivable in the sample holder positioner and includes a container for a liquid and an opening for filling the container with the liquid.

A LIBS analysis system for liquids, the system comprising:
- a handheld LIBS analyzer with a nose section through which a laser beam passes;
- a sample holder positioner attached to the nose section of the hand held LIBS analyzer;
- and
- a sample holder receivable in the sample holder positioner and including:
- a container for liquid, and
- an opening for filling the container with liquid.

A method of analyzing liquids using a handheld LIBS analyzer, the method comprising:
- equipping the handheld LIBS analyzer with a sample holder positioner;
- loading a liquid into a sample holder configured to be inserted into the positioner;
- placing the sample holder into the positioner;
- and
- operating the handheld LIBS analyzer to analyze said liquid in the sample holder.
