Method and system for measuring and managing inventory of product in a collapsible tank

A system for determining volume of a product stored in a collapsible tank, comprising:

• a collapsible container including a supply line connected thereto for facilitating the addition and removal of product thereto and therefrom and a removable vent pipe fitted thereto during addition and removal of product thereto and therefrom wherein the collapsible container further includes;
• at least one sensor located in the removable vent pipe for obtaining process measurements for the collapsible tank;
• and
• an interface device communicably coupled to the at least one sensor, the interface device operable to:
• perform a learning process on the collapsible tank, the learning process being associated with a plurality of process measurements and corresponding volumes of product stored in the collapsible tank, wherein the learning process includes generating a strap table by,
• obtaining an initial first process measurement in the form of a first measurement from the at least one sensor;
• storing the initial first process measurement as an initial entry in the strap table associated with the collapsible container with a corresponding volume of either zero volume or a final volume;
• storing additional entries in the strap table while supplying or removing product to or from the collapsible container, each additional entry being added to the strap table when the volume of product in the collapsible container reaches a target volume for that entry, wherein the target volume is determined using a flow meter disposed in the supply line connected to the collapsible container;
• storing a final entry in the strap table when the volume of product in the collapsible container reaches one of zero volume or the final volume;
• accessing product in the collapsible container, wherein the accessing changes a volume of the collapsible container;
• and
• determine a current volume of product stored in the collapsible tank after product in the collapsible container has been accessed, thereby changing a volume of the product in the collapsible container by obtaining a current process measurement from the at least one sensor and performing a comparison of the current process measurement with one or more entries in the strap table.
