Abstract
The present disclosure provides systems and methods for forming a composite structure comprising rotating a base layer of an apparatus for forming the composite structure about an axis of rotation, transferring carbon short fibers from a first vibratory feed ramp onto the base layer in order to form a plurality of fibrous layers in the composite structure, and vibrating the first vibratory feed ramp during the transferring the carbon short fibers. The base layer may comprise an annular shape.

A method for making a composite structure, comprising:
- rotating a base layer of an apparatus for forming the composite structure about an axis of rotation;
- transferring carbon short fibers from a first vibratory feed ramp onto the base layer in order to form a plurality of fibrous layers in the composite structure;
- vibrating the first vibratory feed ramp during the transferring the carbon short fibers;
- and
- transferring additional carbon short fibers from a supplemental vibratory feed ramp onto an outer diameter area of the base layer,
- wherein the base layer comprises an annular shape.
A method for making a composite structure, comprising:
- rotating a base layer of an apparatus for forming the composite structure about an axis of rotation;
- transferring carbon short fibers from a first vibratory feed ramp onto the base layer in order to form a plurality of fibrous layers in the composite structure;
- vibrating the first vibratory feed ramp during the transferring the carbon short fibers;
- and
- transferring the carbon short fibers from a first loader onto the first vibratory feed ramp, wherein the first loader comprises a loader hole comprising a first dimension and a second dimension, wherein the first dimension is larger than the second dimension, and the first dimension transfers the carbon short fibers to an outer edge of the first vibratory feed ramp,
- wherein the base layer comprises an annular shape.
