Abstract
The present disclosure provides methods for the treatment of a mammal having a neurological condition, disease, or injury. The methods involve increasing the number of functional GABAergic interneurons at or near the site of the neurological disease, injury, or condition.
Claims18
A method for improving motor activity in the central nervous system (CNS) of a mammal having impaired motor activity, comprising:
- transplanting medial ganglionic eminence (MGE) precursor cells into the CNS of the mammal.
A method for improving motor function in a mammal affected with a nervous system disorder and in need of improved motor function, comprising:
- transplanting medial ganglionic eminence (MGE) precursor cells into the nervous system of the mammal;
- and
- allowing the MGE precursor cells to migrate and integrate into the nervous system of the mammal and change the balance of excitatory and inhibitory signals in the nervous system;
- and
- assessing the mammal for an improvement in motor function.
