Abstract
A method of ankle syndesmosis repair according to an exemplary aspect of the present disclosure includes, among other things, drilling a hole through a fibula and a tibia of an ankle joint, pulling a first button device through the hole using a pull-through suture until the first button device exits on a medial side of the tibia, flipping the first button device so it rests against a medial cortex of the tibia, and positioning a second button device at a lateral side of the fibula.
Claims10
A method of ankle syndesmosis repair, comprising:
- drilling a hole through a fibula and a tibia of an ankle joint using a single drill bit;
- pulling a first button device through the hole using a pull-through suture until the first button device exits on a medial side of the tibia;
- flipping the first button device so it rests against a medial cortex of the tibia;
- and
- positioning a second button device at a lateral side of the fibula, wherein a flexible suture coupling is connected to the first button device and the second button device.

A method of ankle syndesmosis repair, comprising:
- reducing a syndesmosis disruption of an ankle joint;
- drilling a hole through a fibula and a tibia of the ankle joint using a single drill bit;
- pulling, in a lateral-to-medial direction of the ankle joint, a first button device through the hole with a pull-through suture until the first button device exits on a medial side of the tibia;
- flipping the first button device so it rests against a medial cortex of the tibia;
- positioning a second button device at a lateral side of the fibula, wherein a flexible suture coupling is connected to the first button device and the second button device;
- and
- tightening down the second button device on the lateral side of the fibula by applying traction to a free end of the flexible suture coupling.
