Device and system for sensing within in-vivo fluids

An in-vivo sensing system for detection of blood within in-vivo gastrointestinal fluids, said system comprising:

• an in-vivo sensing device comprising a housing, said housing comprising:
• a gap formed into or through said housing, the gap having at least one opening through which in-vivo fluids may enter and/or exit the gap;
• an illumination source for illuminating the in-vivo fluids in said gap;
• a light detector for detecting light that passes through the in-vivo fluids in said gap;
• a flexible fin disposed on said housing in the vicinity of said opening, the flexible fin made from a material such that the flexible fin folds by peristaltic pressure applied to the flexible fin, and the flexible fin unfolds by the peristaltic pressure being released from the flexible fin, wherein the flexible fin and configured to cover said opening when the flexible fin is folded, and to allow free fluid flow of in-vivo fluids through said opening when the flexible fin is in unfolded;
• and
• a transmitter for transmitting signals detected by said light detector;
• and
• a receiver for receiving the detected signals;
• and
• a processing unit for processing the detected signals to determine presence of blood in-vivo.
