Abstract
An oral product includes a body that is wholly receivable in an oral cavity. The body includes a mouth-stable polymer matrix, cellulosic fibers embedded in the mouth-stable polymer matrix, and a mouth-soluble binder dispersed in the mouth-stable polymer matrix.
Claims32
A method of forming an oral product, the method comprising:
- extruding a mouth-stable polymer having cellulosic fibers and a mouth-soluble binder dispersed therein to form a fiber-polymer-binder composite, the fiber-polymer-binder composite defining a plurality of pores;
- and
- dispersing nicotine or a derivative thereof within the fiber-polymer-binder composite during or after the extruding, wherein a body of the oral product has a compressibility at 250 N ranging from about 45% to about 95%, and the body has a springiness of greater than or equal to about 20%.
A method of forming an oral product comprising:
- extruding a mouth-stable polymer having tobacco fibers and a mouth-soluble binder dispersed therein to form a fiber-polymer-binder composite, the fiber-polymer-binder composite defining a plurality of pores;
- and
- dispersing nicotine or a derivative thereof within the fiber-polymer-binder composite during or after the extruding, wherein a body of the oral product has a compressibility at 250 N ranging from about 45% to about 95%, and the body has a springiness of greater than or equal to about 20%.
A method of forming an oral product comprising:
- extruding a mouth-stable polymer having cellulosic fibers and a mouth-soluble binder dispersed therein to form a fiber-polymer-binder composite, the mouth-stable polymer comprising polyurethane;
- and
- dispersing nicotine or a derivative thereof within the fiber-polymer-binder composite during or after the extruding;
- and wherein
- the cellulosic fibers provide channels for the nicotine to be released from the oral product during use;
- and
- a body of the oral product has a compressibility at 250 N ranging from about 45% to about 95%, and the body has a springiness of greater than or equal to about 20%.
