Abstract
The present invention concerns an improved balance of the essential branched chain amino acids leucine, isoleucine and valine in infant formula.
Claims10
An infant formula composition comprising protein, digestible carbohydrates and fat, wherein the protein comprises amino acids leucine, isoleucine and valine in a weight ratio leucine:isoleucine:valine is between (1.1-1.5):(0.9-1.1):1.0, wherein the total protein content is between 1.3 and 1.9 protein/100 kcal.
An infant formula composition comprising leucine, isoleucine and valine in a ratio of (1.1-1.5):(0.9-1.1):1.0, and which infant formula provides between 100 and 175 mg valine per kg body weight per day, and between 100 and 160 mg isoleucine per kg body weight per day when the infant is fed 150 ml of the nutritional composition per kg body weight per day.
