Abstract
Composite particles containing hydrophobic particles and spores of an entomopathogenic fungus that are capable of germinating on the cuticle of a grain storage arthropod, dry powder compositions comprising such composite particles, methods of producing such compositions and methods and uses thereof.
Claims20
A method of using a composite particle for control of grain storage pests comprising:
- applying a plurality of composite particles to a grain storage facility,
- wherein said composite particle consists essentially of:
- i) a hydrophobic particle that adheres to the cuticle of at least one species of a grain storage arthropod;
- and
- ii) an effective amount of spores of an entomopathogenic fungus Beauveria bassiana, strain IMI 398548, that adhere to the hydrophobic particle and are capable of germinating on the cuticle of the at least one species of a grain storage arthropod and providing an effective mortality for said species when germinated.
A method of using a dry powder composition effective in controlling populations of grain storage arthropods comprising:
- applying a dry power composition to a grain storage facility, the composition comprising composite particles which consist essentially of:
- i) hydrophobic particles that adhere to the cuticles of one or more species of grain storage arthropod;
- and
- ii) an effective amount of spores of an entomopathogenic fungus Beauveria bassiana, strain IMI 398548, that adhere to the hydrophobic particles and are capable of germinating on the cuticles of the one or more species of grain storage arthropod and providing an effective mortality for said species when germinated.
A method of using a composite particles for the control of grain storage pest comprising:
- applying a plurality of composite particles to a grain storage facility,
- wherein said composite particles consist essentially of:
- i) a hydrophobic particle that adheres to the cuticle of at least one species of a grain storage arthropod;
- ii) an effective amount of spores of an entomopathogenic fungus Beauveria bassiana, strain IMI 398548, that adhere to the hydrophobic particle and are capable of germinating on the cuticle of the at least one species of a grain storage arthropod and providing an effective mortality for said species when germinated, and
- iii) a flow agent.
