Load transducer system configured to correct for measurement errors in the output forces and/or moments of the system

A load transducer system, comprising:

• a load transducer including:
• a load transducer frame portion, the load transducer frame portion configured to receive a load that is applied to the load transducer;
• and
• a plurality of deformation sensing elements disposed on the load transducer frame portion, a first one of the plurality of deformation sensing elements being sensitive to a first force or moment component of the load and outputting a first output signal representative of the first force or moment component of the load, and a second one of the plurality of deformation sensing elements being sensitive to a second force or moment component of the load and outputting a second output signal representative of the second force or moment component of the load, the first force or moment component of the load being different from the second force or moment component of the load;
• and
• a data processing device operatively coupled to the plurality of deformation sensing elements of the load transducer, the data processing device configured to receive the first and second output signals from the first and second ones of the plurality of deformation sensing elements, the data processing device further configured to determine one or more temperature compensation parameters for the load transducer system and to correct the at least one of the first and second output signals from the first and second ones of the plurality of deformation sensing elements using the one or more temperature compensation parameters, the data processing device additionally configured to determine at least one of a first output force or moment and a second output force or moment from the at least one of the corrected first and second output signals.

A load transducer system, comprising:

• a load transducer including:
• a load transducer frame portion, the load transducer frame portion configured to receive a load that is applied to the load transducer;
• and
• a plurality of deformation sensing elements disposed on the load transducer frame portion, a first one of the plurality of deformation sensing elements being sensitive to a first force or moment component of the load and outputting a first output signal representative of the first force or moment component of the load, and a second one of the plurality of deformation sensing elements being sensitive to a second force or moment component of the load and outputting a second output signal representative of the second force or moment component of the load, the first force or moment component of the load being different from the second force or moment component of the load;
• and
• a data processing device operatively coupled to the plurality of deformation sensing elements of the load transducer, the data processing device configured to receive the first and second output signals from the first and second ones of the plurality of deformation sensing elements, the data processing device further configured to reference a stored calibration matrix for the load transducer, and to determine a first output force or moment from the first output signal of the first one of the plurality of deformation sensing elements using the stored calibration matrix and a second output force or moment from the second output signal of the second one of the plurality of deformation sensing elements using the stored calibration matrix, the data processing device additionally configured to determine a position of the applied load, and to correct at least one of the first output force or moment and the second output force or moment based upon the position of the applied load.
