## Abstract

The content management system can receive log-on requests from a plurality of users and a request from the plurality of users to access content stored in a repository of the content management system. The requested content can be copied to a transient content store. The transient content store can facilitate presentation of the copy of the content on a shared interface to the plurality of users. The transient content store can facilitate editing of the copy of the content by the plurality of users simultaneously by an editor external to the content management system. The edited copy of the content can be transmitted back to the content management system and can be stored in the repository of the content management system.

## Claims

A system comprising:
a content management server having a content repository and computer hardware configured to perform the operations of a content management system, the operations including:
receiving a log-in request to access a content stored in the content repository from a first user of the content management system, the content having a unique identifier;
transmitting a copy of the content to a transient content server having a transient content repository for storage in the transient content repository to facilitate editing of the content by the first user;
verifying the log-in request from the first user;
transmitting log-in credentials of the first user to the transient content server to gain access for the first user to the content stored in the transient content repository;
receiving a second log-in request from a second user to access the content stored in the content repository of the content management system;
verifying the second log-in request of the second user;
identifying that that the copy of the content has been transmitted to the transient content server;
providing log-in credentials of the second user to the transient content server to gain access for the second user to the content stored in the transient content repository;
receiving the edited content from the transient content server; and
storing the edited content in the content repository of the content management system with a unique identifier, the unique identifier of the edited content indicating that the edited content is a version of the original content.

### Claim 9 (depends on 8)

The system as in claim 8, wherein the operations of the content management server further comprise:
transmitting log-in credentials of users of the content management system to the transient content server to facilitate access by the users of the content management system to contents transmitted to the transient content server for editing.

### Claim 10 (depends on 8)

The system as in claim 8, wherein the content stored in the content repository of the content management system includes associated restrictions on access to the content and the operations of the content management server further comprise:
verifying that providing access to the content for the first user complies with the restrictions on access to the content; and
providing the log-in credentials of the first user to the transient content server to gain access for the first user to the content stored in the transient content repository in response to verifying that providing access to the content for the first user complies with the restrictions on access to the content.
