## Abstract

A novel maize variety designated X18H784 and seed, plants and plant parts thereof are produced by crossing inbred maize varieties. Methods for producing a maize plant by crossing hybrid maize variety X18H784 with another maize plant are disclosed. Methods for producing a maize plant containing in its genetic material one or more traits introgressed into X18H784 through backcross conversion and/or transformation, and to the maize seed, plant and plant part produced thereby. This invention relates to the maize variety X18H784, the seed, the plant produced from the seed, and variants, mutants, and minor modifications of maize variety X18H784. This invention further relates to methods for producing maize varieties derived from maize variety X18H784.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A seed of hybrid maize variety X18H784, representative seed produced by crossing a first plant of variety PH2RDY with a second plant of variety PH11SY, wherein representative seed of the varieties PH2RDY and PH11SY have been deposited under ATCC Accession Numbers PTA-124579 and PTA-11912, respectively.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

A plant of hybrid maize variety X18H784 grown from the seed of claim 1.

### Claim 3 (depends on 2)

A plant part or cell of the plant of claim 2, wherein the plant part comprises at least one cell of hybrid maize variety X18H784.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

A method of producing the seed of claim 1, the method comprising crossing a plant of variety PH2RDY with a plant of variety PH11SY, wherein representative seed of varieties PH2RDY and PH11SY have been deposited under ATCC Accession numbers PTA-124579 and PTA-11912, respectively.

### Claim 5

A seed of hybrid maize variety X18H784 further comprising at least a first transgene, representative seed of X18H784 produced by crossing a first plant of variety PH2RDY with a second plant of variety PH11SY, wherein representative seed of the varieties PH2RDY and PH11SY have been deposited under ATCC Accession Numbers PTA-124579 and PTA-11912, respectively.

### Claim 6 (depends on 5)

The seed of claim 5, wherein the transgene confers a property selected from the group consisting of male sterility, herbicide tolerance, insect resistance, disease resistance, waxy starch, modified fatty acid metabolism, modified phytic acid metabolism, modified carbohydrate metabolism and modified protein metabolism.

### Claim 7 (depends on 5)

The hybrid maize variety X18H784 seed further comprising at least a first transgene of claim 5, further comprising a seed treatment on the surface of the seed.

### Claim 8 (depends on 5)

A method for producing nucleic acids, the method comprising isolating nucleic acids from the hybrid maize variety X18H784 seed further comprising at least a first transgene of claim 5.

### Claim 9 (depends on 5)

A plant grown from the seed of claim 5.

### Claim 10 (depends on 9)

A method for producing a second maize plant, the method comprising applying plant breeding techniques to the plant of claim 9 to produce the second maize plant.

### Claim 11 (depends on 9)

A method for producing a second maize plant, the method comprising doubling haploid seed generated from a cross of the maize plant of claim 9 with a different maize plant.

### Claim 12

An F1 hybrid maize variety X18H784 seed further comprising a locus conversion, the seed being produced by crossing a first plant of variety PH2RDY with a second plant of variety PH11SY; representative seed of the varieties PH2RDY and PH11SY having been deposited under ATCC Accession Numbers PTA-124579 and PTA-11912, respectively; wherein at least one of the varieties PH2RDY and PH11SY further comprises a locus conversion and wherein the seed produces a plant having otherwise all the physiological and morphological characteristics of maize variety X18H784 when grown under the same environmental conditions.

### Claim 13 (depends on 12)

The seed of claim 12, further comprising a seed treatment on the surface of the seed.

### Claim 14 (depends on 12)

The seed of claim 12, wherein the locus conversion confers a property selected from the group consisting of male sterility, herbicide tolerance, insect resistance, disease resistance, waxy starch, modified fatty acid metabolism, modified phytic acid metabolism, modified carbohydrate metabolism and modified protein metabolism.

### Claim 15 (depends on 12)

A method for producing nucleic acids, the method comprising isolating nucleic acids from the seed of claim 12.

### Claim 16 (depends on 12)

A plant, plant part, or plant cell produced by growing the seed of claim 12, the plant, plant part or plant cell comprising at least one F1 hybrid maize variety X18H784 cell further comprising the locus conversion.
