## Abstract

A novel maize variety designated X13H149 and seed, plants and plant parts thereof are produced by crossing inbred maize varieties. Methods for producing a maize plant by crossing hybrid maize variety X13H149 with another maize plant are disclosed. Methods for producing a maize plant containing in its genetic material one or more traits introgressed into X13H149 through backcross conversion and/or transformation, and to the maize seed, plant and plant part produced thereby. This invention relates to the maize variety X13H149, the seed, the plant produced from the seed, and variants, mutants, and minor modifications of maize variety X13H149. This invention further relates to methods for producing maize varieties derived from maize variety X13H149.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A seed of hybrid maize variety X13H149, representative seed produced by crossing a first plant of variety PHV92 with a second plant of variety PH2DYM, wherein representative seed of the varieties PHV92 and PH2DYM have been deposited under ATCC Accession Numbers PTA-12176 and PTA-124094, respectively.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

A plant of hybrid maize variety X13H149 grown from the seed of claim 1.

### Claim 3 (depends on 2)

A plant part or cell of the plant of claim 2, wherein the plant part comprises at least one cell of hybrid maize variety X13H149.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

A method of producing the seed of claim 1, the method comprising crossing a plant of variety PHV92 with a plant of variety PH2DYM, wherein representative seed of varieties PHV92 and PH2DYM have been deposited under ATCC Accession numbers PTA-12176 and PTA-124094, respectively.

### Claim 5

A seed of hybrid maize variety X13H149 further comprising at least a first transgene, representative seed of X13H149 produced by crossing a first plant of variety PHV92 with a second plant of variety PH2DYM, wherein representative seed of the varieties PHV92 and PH2DYM have been deposited under ATCC Accession Numbers PTA-12176 and PTA-124094, respectively.

### Claim 6 (depends on 5)

The seed of claim 5, wherein the transgene confers a property selected from the group consisting of male sterility, herbicide tolerance, insect resistance, disease resistance, waxy starch, modified fatty acid metabolism, modified phytic acid metabolism, modified carbohydrate metabolism and modified protein metabolism.

### Claim 7 (depends on 5)

The hybrid maize variety X13H149 seed further comprising at least a first transgene of claim 5, further comprising a seed treatment on the surface of the seed.

### Claim 8 (depends on 5)

A method for producing nucleic acids, the method comprising isolating nucleic acids from the hybrid maize variety X13H149 seed further comprising at least a first transgene of claim 5.

### Claim 9 (depends on 5)

A plant grown from the seed of claim 5.

### Claim 10 (depends on 9)

A method for producing a second maize plant, the method comprising applying plant breeding techniques to the plant of claim 9 to produce the second maize plant.

### Claim 11 (depends on 9)

A method for producing a second maize plant, the method comprising doubling haploid seed generated from a cross of the maize plant of claim 9 with a different maize plant.

### Claim 12

An F1 hybrid maize variety X13H149 seed further comprising a locus conversion, the seed being produced by crossing a first plant of variety PHV92 with a second plant of variety PH2DYM; representative seed of the varieties PHV92 and PH2DYM having been deposited under ATCC Accession Numbers PTA-12176 and PTA-124094, respectively; wherein at least one of the varieties PHV92 and PH2DYM further comprises a locus conversion and wherein the seed produces a plant having otherwise all the physiological and morphological characteristics of maize variety X13H149 when grown under the same environmental conditions.

### Claim 13 (depends on 12)

The seed of claim 12, further comprising a seed treatment on the surface of the seed.

### Claim 14 (depends on 12)

The seed of claim 12, wherein the locus conversion confers a property selected from the group consisting of male sterility, herbicide tolerance, insect resistance, disease resistance, waxy starch, modified fatty acid metabolism, modified phytic acid metabolism, modified carbohydrate metabolism and modified protein metabolism.

### Claim 15 (depends on 12)

A method for producing nucleic acids, the method comprising isolating nucleic acids from the seed of claim 12.

### Claim 16 (depends on 12)

A plant, plant part, or plant cell produced by growing the seed of claim 12, the plant, plant part or plant cell comprising at least one F1 hybrid maize variety X13H149 cell further comprising the locus conversion.
