## Abstract

A petunia-calibrachoa plant designated SAKPXC017 is disclosed. Embodiments include the seeds of petunia-calibrachoa SAKPXC017, the plants of petunia-calibrachoa SAKPXC017, to plant parts of petunia-calibrachoa SAKPXC017, and methods for producing a plant produced by crossing petunia-calibrachoa SAKPXC017 with itself or with another variety. Embodiments include methods for producing a plant containing in its genetic material one or more genes or transgenes and the transgenic plants and plant parts produced by those methods. Embodiments also relate to varieties, breeding varieties, plant parts, and cells derived from petunia-calibrachoa SAKPXC017, methods for producing other lines or plant parts derived from petunia-calibrachoa SAKPXC017, and the plants, varieties, and their parts derived from use of those methods. Embodiments further include hybrid seeds, plants, and plant parts produced by crossing petunia-calibrachoa SAKPXC017 with another variety.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A plant of petunia-calibrachoa hybrid variety SAKPXC017, wherein a representative sample of plant tissue of said cultivar was deposited under NCMA No. 201803005.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

A plant, or a plant part thereof produced by growing the plant of claim 1, wherein the plant part comprises at least one cell of petunia-calibrachoa hybrid variety SAKPXC017.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

A petunia-calibrachoa hybrid plant, or part thereof, having all of the physiological and morphological characteristics of the petunia-calibrachoa hybrid plant of claim 1.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

A tissue or cell culture of regenerable cells produced from the plant of claim 1.

### Claim 5 (depends on 4)

The tissue or cell culture of claim 4, comprising tissues or cells from a plant part selected from the group consisting of leaves, pollen, embryos, cotyledons, hypocotyl, meristematic cells, roots, root tips, pistils, anthers, flowers, and stems.

### Claim 6 (depends on 5)

A petunia-calibrachoa hybrid plant regenerated from the tissue or cell culture of claim 5, wherein said plant has all of the morphological and physiological characteristics of petunia-calibrachoa hybrid SAKPXC017 listed in Table 1.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

A method of vegetatively propagating the plant of claim 1, comprising the steps of:
a. collecting tissue or cells capable of being propagated from a plant according to claim 1;
b. cultivating said tissue or cells of (a) to obtain proliferated shoots; and
c. rooting said proliferated shoots to obtain rooted plantlets; or
d. cultivating said tissue or cells to obtain proliferated shoots, or to obtain plantlets.

### Claim 8 (depends on 7)

A petunia-calibrachoa hybrid plant produced by growing the plantlets or proliferated shoots of claim 7.

### Claim 9 (depends on 1)

A method for producing an F1 embryo or seed, wherein the method comprises crossing the plant of claim 1 with a different plant and harvesting the resultant F1 embryo or seed.

### Claim 10 (depends on 1)

A method of determining the genotype of the petunia-calibrachoa hybrid plant of claim 1, wherein said method comprises obtaining a sample of nucleic acids from said plant and detecting in said nucleic acids a plurality of polymorphisms.

### Claim 11 (depends on 1)

A method of producing a petunia-calibrachoa hybrid plant resistant to the group consisting of herbicides, insecticides, and disease, wherein the method comprises transforming the petunia-calibrachoa hybrid plant of claim 1 with a transgene, and wherein said transgene confers resistance to an herbicide, insecticide, or disease.

### Claim 12 (depends on 11)

An herbicide, insecticide, or disease resistant plant produced by the method of claim 11.

### Claim 13 (depends on 1)

A method for developing a petunia-calibrachoa hybrid plant in a plant breeding program, comprising applying plant breeding techniques comprising crossing, recurrent selection, mutation breeding, wherein said mutation breeding selects for a mutation that is spontaneously or artificially induced, backcrossing, pedigree breeding, marker enhanced selection, haploid/double haploid production, or transformation to the petunia-calibrachoa hybrid plant of claim 1, or its parts, wherein application of said techniques results in development of a petunia-calibrachoa hybrid plant.

### Claim 14 (depends on 1)

A method of introducing a mutation into the genome of petunia-calibrachoa hybrid plant SAKPXC017, said method comprising mutagenesis of the plant, or plant part thereof, of claim 1, wherein said mutagenesis is selected from the group consisting of temperature, long-term seed storage, tissue culture conditions, ionizing radiation, chemical mutagens, targeting induced local lesions in genomes, zinc finger nuclease mediated mutagenesis, meganucleases, and gene editing, and wherein the resulting plant comprises at least one genome mutation.
