Abstract
In some implementations, an apparatus includes a container having an exterior surface, having an interior surface and having a defect, a gasket positioned over the defect in the container, the gasket having a length, a width and a depth, a rigid patch positioned over the gasket, a plurality of pairs of studs and nuts positioned near the outer perimeter of the rigid patch, the studs being friction welded to the exterior of the container.

An apparatus comprising:
- a curved structure having an exterior surface, having an interior surface and having a defect;
- a gasket positioned over the defect in the curved structure, the gasket having a length, a width and a thickness;
- a rigid patch positioned over the gasket, the rigid patch having a length, a width and a thickness, the length of the rigid patch being greater than the length of the gasket, the width of the rigid patch being greater than the width of the gasket;
- and
- a plurality of studs and nuts positioned near an outer perimeter of the rigid patch, the plurality of studs being friction welded to the exterior surface of the curved structure.
An apparatus comprising:
- a curved structure having an exterior surface, having an interior surface and having a defect;
- a steel patch positioned over the curved structure;
- and
- a plurality of studs and nuts positioned near an outer perimeter of the steel patch, the plurality of studs being friction welded to the exterior surface of the curved structure.
An apparatus comprising:
- a curved structure having an exterior surface, having an interior surface and having a defect;
- a gasket positioned around the defect in the curved structure, the gasket having a length, a width and a thickness;
- a rigid cover positioned over the gasket, the rigid cover having a length and a width and a thickness;
- and
- a plurality of studs and nuts positioned near an outer perimeter of the rigid cover, the plurality of studs being friction welded to the exterior surface of the curved structure.
