Abstract
An access point in a wireless network communicates with multiple mobile stations simultaneously using spatial-division multiple access.
Claims25
An apparatus comprising a memory and a processor, the processor configured to cause a wireless station (STA) to:
- transmit a frame to reserve a wireless communication medium for a reserved time period by setting a Network Allocation Vector (NAV) corresponding to the reserved time period;
- and
- during the reserved time period, transmit a downlink Spatial-Division-Multiple-Access (SDMA) transmission to a plurality of wireless stations, the downlink SDMA transmission comprising simultaneous transmission of a plurality of different downlink data frames to respective ones of the plurality of wireless stations.
A product comprising one or more tangible computer-readable non-transitory storage media comprising computer-executable instructions operable to, when executed by at least one processor, enable the at least one processor to cause a wireless station (STA) to:
- transmit a frame to reserve a wireless communication medium for a reserved time period by setting a Network Allocation Vector (NAV) corresponding to the reserved time period;
- and
- during the reserved time period, transmit a downlink Spatial-Division-Multiple-Access (SDMA) transmission to a plurality of wireless stations, the downlink SDMA transmission comprising simultaneous transmission of a plurality of different downlink data frames to respective ones of the plurality of wireless stations.
