Abstract
Aspects of the present invention relate to the scheduling of resources in a telecommunication system that includes a mobile terminal and base station. In one embodiment, the mobile terminal sends an initial scheduling request to a base station. Subsequently, the mobile terminal does not transmit a scheduling request to the base station unless and until a scheduling request triggering event is detected.
Claims20
A method for transmitting scheduling requests from a mobile terminal to a base station, the method comprising:
- sending a scheduling request to the base station, wherein the scheduling request is associated with first data to be transmitted to the base station;
- transmitting a buffer status report to the base station in response to receiving a scheduling grant;
- receiving second data for transmission to the base station while the first data is waiting to be transmitted to the base station;
- transmitting a subsequent scheduling request (SR) to the base station if a buffer status of the mobile terminal has changed, wherein a change in the buffer status of the mobile terminal comprises an amount of time that has elapsed since a previous SR was transmitted exceeds a threshold.
1 more element
A mobile terminal, comprising:
- a data processor;
- a buffer in communication with the data processor, wherein the buffer stores data to be transmitted to a base station;
- a transceiver in communication with the data processor, wherein the transceiver transmits a buffer status report to the base station in response to receiving a scheduling grant, and receives second data for transmission to the base station while first data is waiting to be transmitted;
- and
- wherein the transceiver transmits a subsequent scheduling request (SR) to the base station if a buffer status of the mobile terminal has changed, wherein a change in the buffer status of the mobile terminal comprises an amount of time that has elapsed since a previous SR was transmitted exceeds a threshold.
