Abstract
A system described herein may allow for the frictionless authentication of a user and/or user device (e.g., without requiring that the user provide login details, such as a user name and password). The frictionless authentication may occur via a licensed wireless network, even when the user device is actively engaged in communications with an unlicensed wireless network (and/or is not engaged in communications with the licensed wireless network).
Claims20
A device, comprising:
- a non-transitory computer-readable medium storing a set of processor-executable instructions;
- and
- one or more processors configured to execute the set of processor-executable instructions, wherein executing the set of processor-executable instructions causes the one or more processors to:
- determine that the device should be authenticated for a particular application;
- determine, based on the determination that the device should be authenticated, whether the device is connected to a particular licensed wireless network;
- identify that the device is not connected to the particular licensed wireless network;
- establish, based on the identifying that the device is not connected to the particular licensed wireless network, a communication with an authentication system via the particular licensed wireless network;
- output, to the authentication system and via the particular licensed wireless network, an authentication request, wherein the authentication system performs a network-based authentication on the device based on the authentication request outputted via the particular licensed wireless network;
- receive, from the authentication system and in response to the authentication request, an access token that indicates that the authentication system has authenticated the device;
- and
- provide, to the particular application, the received access token.
A method, comprising:
- determining, by a device, that the device should be authenticated for a particular application;
- determining, by the device and based on the determination that the device should be authenticated for the particular application, whether the device is connected to a particular licensed wireless network;
- identifying, by the device, that the device is not connected to the particular licensed wireless network;
- establishing, by the device and based on identifying that the device is not connected to the particular licensed wireless network, a communication with an authentication system via the particular licensed wireless network;
- outputting, by the device, to the authentication system, and via the particular licensed wireless network, an authentication request, wherein the authentication system performs a network-based authentication on the device based on the authentication request outputted via the particular licensed wireless network;
- receiving, by the device, from the authentication system and in response to the authentication request, an access token that indicates that the authentication system has authenticated the device;
- and
- providing, to the particular application, the received access token.
A non-transitory computer-readable medium, storing a set of processor-executable instructions, which, when executed by one or more processors of a device, cause the one or more processors to:
- determine that the device should be authenticated for a particular application;
- determine, based on the determination that the device should be authenticated, whether the device is connected to a particular licensed wireless network;
- identify that the device is not connected to the particular licensed wireless network;
- establish, based on the identifying that the device is not connected to the particular licensed wireless network, a communication with an authentication system via the particular licensed wireless network;
- output, to the authentication system and via the particular licensed wireless network, an authentication request, wherein the authentication system performs a network-based authentication on the device based on the authentication request outputted via the particular licensed wireless network;
- receive, from the authentication system and in response to the authentication request, an access token that indicates that the authentication system has authenticated the device;
- and
- provide, to the particular application, the received access token.
