Abstract
Techniques are disclosed for purchasing, accessing, and/or providing electronic content by a projection based eReader. In accordance with one embodiment, a projector system is provided that is configured to engage a lighting socket and can be controlled by, for example, a remote control and/or imaged user input actions. Power to the system can be received through the socket based interface. The techniques can also be used in non-socketed configurations. The system is capable of creating large images suitable for reading large publications, such as newspapers or magazines, but can generally be used for any type of content including small print. In some embodiments, the system projects an image onto a lightweight, rigid screen that can be held by an individual that is situated in the area near the projection system.
Claims20
A projector system, comprising:
- a communication circuit to wirelessly receive sensor data from a portable reading screen, the sensor data indicative of at least one of orientation of the portable reading screen and fold status of the portable reading screen, wherein the sensor data indicates orientation by indicating whether the portable reading screen is in landscape mode or portrait mode, and wherein the sensor data indicates fold status by indicating whether the portable reading screen is in unfolded mode or folded mode;
- an adjustable lens to project an image of digital content onto the portable reading screen;
- and
- a servo to adjust the adjustable lens to project the image of digital content on the portable reading screen, based on one or more mode changes reflected in the sensor data, thereby changing the projected image from a first image that corresponds to a first one of the modes to a second image that corresponds to a second one of the modes.
A projection system, comprising:
- an adjustable lens to project an image of digital content onto a portable reading screen;
- and
- a servo to adjust the adjustable lens to project the image of digital content on the portable reading screen, the adjusting responsive to sensor data wirelessly received from the portable reading screen, the sensor data indicative of at least one of orientation of the portable reading screen and a fold status of the portable reading screen, wherein the orientation indicates that the portable reading screen is in landscape mode or portrait mode, and wherein the fold status indicates that the portable reading screen is in unfolded mode or folded mode, such that adjustment of the projected image is based on a change in at least one of orientation status and fold status of the portable reading screen as indicated by the sensor data so that the projected image is adjusted from a first image that corresponds to a first orientation and/or fold status of the portable reading screen to a second image that corresponds to a second orientation and/or fold status of the portable reading screen.
A projection system, comprising:
- a projector having an adjustable lens to project an image of digital content onto a portable reading screen;
- a camera to image the portable reading screen, so as to provide portable reading screen location data;
- and
- a servo to adjust the adjustable lens to project the image of digital content on the portable reading screen, the adjusting responsive to sensor data received from the portable reading screen, the sensor data indicative of one or both of orientation of the portable reading screen and fold status of the portable reading screen, wherein the sensor data indicates orientation by indicating whether the portable reading screen is in landscape mode or portrait mode, and wherein the sensor data indicates fold status by indicating whether the portable reading screen is in unfolded mode or folded mode, such that adjustment of the projected image is based on one or more mode changes reflected in the sensor data so as to change the projected image from a first image that corresponds to a first one of the modes to a second image that corresponds to a second one of the modes.
