Abstract
A multi-channel optical transceiver is disclosed. The optical transceiver has a multi-package structure. A laser array is disposed in one package. An application specific integrated circuit (ASIC) and photonic integrated circuit (PIC) are disposed in another package. An optical fiber array may couple the first package and second package together.
Claims11
A multi-channel coherent transceiver, comprising:
- a first package;
- a multi-core application specific integrated circuit (ASIC) disposed within the first package;
- a multi-channel transmitter or receiver photonic integrated circuit (PIC) disposed within the first package and coupled to the multi-core ASIC;
- a second package comprising a tunable laser array;
- and
- an optical fiber array comprising multiple optical fibers coupling the first package with the second package.
