Attenuated light beam peak frequency modification

A system comprising:

• a driver mechanism to modulate a plurality of pixels of a modulator;
• an optical detector to detect a characteristic of a light beam directed from the modulator;
• a processor to:
• instruct the driver mechanism to apply a first asymmetrical attenuation pattern on an input light beam that impinges on the modulator through modulation of the plurality of pixels to direct a first attenuated light beam from the modulator;
• receive a first power level measurement of the first attenuated light beam from the optical detector;
• instruct the driver mechanism to apply a second asymmetrical attenuation pattern on the input light beam through modulation of the plurality of pixels to direct a second attenuated light beam from the modulator;
• receive a second power level measurement of the second attenuated light beam from the optical detector;
• and
• calculate a modified peak frequency for an attenuated light beam directed from the modulator based upon the first power level measurement and the second power level measurement.

A non-transitory computer readable storage medium on which is stored machine readable instructions that when executed by a processor cause the processor to:

• cause a first asymmetrical attenuation pattern to be applied on an input light beam that impinges on a modulator through modulation of a plurality of pixels to direct a first attenuated light beam from the modulator;
• receive a first power level measurement of the first attenuated light beam;
• cause a second asymmetrical attenuation pattern to be applied on the input light beam through modulation of the plurality of pixels to direct a second attenuated light beam from the modulator;
• receive a second power level measurement of the second attenuated light beam from the optical detector;
• and
• calculate a modified peak frequency for an attenuated light beam from directed from the modulator based upon the first power level measurement and the second power level measurement.
