Abstract
A compressor may include a shell assembly, a compression mechanism and a conduit. The shell assembly may include a fitting through which fluid is received from outside of the compressor. The compression mechanism may be disposed within a chamber defined by the shell assembly. The conduit may extend through the chamber between the fitting and a suction inlet of the compression mechanism and transmit at least a portion of the fluid from the fitting to the suction inlet. The conduit may include an inlet that may be spaced apart from the fitting and an outlet that may engage the compression mechanism.
Claims17
A compressor comprising:
- a shell assembly having an opening through which fluid is received from outside of the compressor;
- a suction fitting attached to said shell assembly at said opening;
- a compression mechanism disposed within a chamber defined by said shell assembly;
- and
- a conduit extending through said chamber and aligned with a suction inlet of said compression mechanism and transmitting a portion of said fluid received from outside of the compressor to said suction inlet, said conduit including an inlet and an outlet that is tangent to a spiral wrap of said compression mechanism,
- wherein said conduit is spaced apart from said shell assembly such that said conduit does not physically contact said shell assembly or said suction fitting.
A compressor comprising:
- a shell assembly having an opening through which fluid is received from outside of the compressor;
- a suction fitting attached to said shell assembly at said opening;
- a compression mechanism disposed within a chamber defined by said shell assembly;
- and
- a conduit extending through said chamber and aligned with a suction inlet of said compression mechanism and transmitting a portion of said fluid received from outside of the compressor to said suction inlet, said conduit spaced apart from said opening and said shell assembly such that said conduit does not physically contact said shell assembly or said suction fitting, said conduit including an outlet adjacent said compression mechanism, said outlet including a centerline extending through a spiral wrap of said compression mechanism.
