Abstract
Methods and compositions for use in subterranean operations are disclosed comprising providing a treatment fluid that comprises a base fluid, a gelling agent, and a synergistic breaker composition, comprising: a controlled degradable acid generating material, and an oxidizing component; introducing the treatment fluid into a formation; allowing the synergistic breaker composition to substantially reduce the viscosity of the treatment fluid.
Claims14
A method comprising:
- providing a synergistic breaker composition, comprising:
- a controlled degradable acid generating material;
- and
- an oxidizing component;
- adding the synergistic breaker composition to a treatment fluid that comprises a base fluid and a metal crosslinked gelling agent that comprises a polymeric gelling agent that is crosslinked with a metal ion selected from the group consisting of a zirconium IV ion, a titanium IV ion, an aluminum ion, an antimony ion, a chromium ion, an iron ion, a copper ion, a zinc ion, and any combination thereof;
- introducing the treatment fluid into a formation;
- and
- allowing the synergistic breaker composition to (a) break crosslinks of at least a portion of the metal crosslinked gelling agent, and (b) break a polymer molecule from at least a portion of the polymeric gelling agent, wherein the viscosity of the treatment fluid is substantially reduced by (a) and (b).

A method of treating a formation, comprising:
- providing a synergistic breaker composition, comprising:
- a controlled degradable acid generating material;
- and
- an oxidizing component;
- providing a treatment fluid comprising a base fluid and a metal crosslinked gelling agent that comprises a polymeric gelling agent and wherein the metal crosslinked gelling agent is crosslinked with a metal ion selected from the group consisting of a zirconium IV ion, a titanium IV ion, an aluminum ion, an antimony ion, a chromium ion, an iron ion, a copper ion, a zinc ion, and any combination thereof;
- introducing the treatment fluid into a formation;
- adding to the treatment fluid the synergistic breaker composition;
- and
- allowing the synergistic breaker composition to interact with the treatment fluid to (a) break crosslinks of at least a portion of the metal crosslinked gelling agent, and (b) break a polymer molecule from at least a portion of the polymeric gelling agent, thereby substantially reducing the viscosity of the treatment fluid.
