Recording apparatus and method for transporting recorded medium

A recording apparatus comprising:

• a transportation belt that transports a recorded medium;
• a washing portion that washes the transportation belt;
• and
• a selection unit that selects a transportation mode for transporting the recorded medium from among a washing transportation mode in which the transportation belt is transported while being washed by the washing portion, and a non-washing transportation mode in which the transportation belt is transported without being washed by the washing portion, wherein
• the selection unit selects the washing transportation mode or the non-washing transportation mode in accordance with whether or not a recording mode is one in which the transportation belt becomes soiled among recording modes in which recording is performed without detecting whether or not the transportation belt is soiled.

A recording apparatus comprising:

• a transportation belt that transports a recorded medium;
• a washing portion that washes the transportation belt;
• and
• a selection unit that selects a transportation mode for transporting the recorded medium from among a washing transportation mode in which the transportation belt is transported while being washed by the washing portion, and a non-washing transportation mode in which the transportation belt is transported without being washed by the washing portion, wherein
• the selection unit selects the washing transportation mode or the non-washing transportation mode in accordance with whether or not a recording mode is one in which the transportation belt becomes soiled, and
• the selection unit selects, as a transportation mode for use in transporting the recorded medium along with no recording operation after a recording operation onto the recorded medium has been brought to a halt, the washing transportation mode or the non-washing transportation mode, whichever has been selected in the recording operation having been brought to a halt.

A recording apparatus comprising:

• a transportation belt that transports a recorded medium;
• a washing portion that washes the transportation belt;
• and
• a selection unit that selects a transportation mode for transporting the recorded medium from the group consisting of
• a washing/recording transportation mode in which the transportation belt is transported while being washed by the washing portion when performing recording,
• a non-washing/recording transportation mode in which the transportation belt is transported without being washed by the washing portion when performing recording, and
• a washing/non-recording transportation mode in which the transportation belt is transported while being washed by the washing portion without performing recording, wherein
• the selection unit selects the transportation mode in accordance with a printing operation.
