Abstract
A matrix, including epithelial basement membrane, for inducing repair of mammalian tissue defects and in vitro cell propagation derived from epithelial tissues of a warm-blooded vertebrate.
Claims13
A method for making a devitalized material for tissue repair, comprising:
- extracting epithelial cells and epithelial cellular elements from an epithelial tissue comprising epithelial basement membrane by soaking said epithelial tissue in a detergent solution at concentrations from 0.025 to 1%, for 5 minutes to at least 4 hours sufficient to remove said epithelial cells and said epithelial cellular elements from the epithelial basement membrane, wherein said epithelial basement membrane is largely intact and is positioned on the surface of the devitalized tissue for tissue repair.
