Abstract
Wearable rubber parts for fluid handling systems include a four layer structure, wherein the inner most layer of the four layer structure is a polyurethane layer. The polyurethane can be millable polyurethane. The polyurethane used in the inner most layer can be produced by reacting diisolcyanate with a polyester and/or polyether polyols and a chain extender. The wearable rubber part can be an expansion joint, a pinch valve, or a hose.
Claims28
A flexible expansion joint comprising:
- an inner most layer comprising polyurethane;
- a bonding ply layer;
- a reinforcement layer;
- and
- an outer layer;
- wherein the flexible expansion joint is a flowing arch expansion joint.
A flexible expansion joint comprising:
- a cylindrical main body portion having a hollow passage extending therethrough;
- and
- a flange at either end of the cylindrical main body portion, each flange including a mating surface;
- wherein an inner most layer of the expansion joint comprises millable polyurethane;
- and
- wherein the flexible expansion joint further comprises a reinforcement layer and a bonding ply layer intermediate the inner most layer and the reinforcement layer, wherein the inner most layer is chemically bonded to the bonding ply layer and the reinforcement layer is mechanically bonded to the bonding ply layer.
A flexible expansion joint comprising:
- an inner most layer comprising polyurethane;
- a bonding ply layer;
- a reinforcement layer;
- and
- an outer layer;
- wherein the flexible expansion joint is an abrupt arch expansion joint.
