Abstract
A method implemented by a middlebox comprising registering a customer premises equipment (CPE) in the middlebox, wherein the CPE is coupled to the middlebox via an electrical line, and facilitating registration of the CPE in a central office (CO) equipment coupled to the middlebox.
Claims15
An apparatus comprising:
- a processor configured to:
- generate a gate message based on a registration of an endpoint at a middlebox;
- and
- process a register acknowledgement message based on the gate message;
- a transmitter coupled to the processor and configured to transmit the gate message;
- and
- a receiver coupled to the processor and configured to receive the register acknowledgement message from a fiber coaxial unit (FCU),
- the register acknowledgement message originated from a coaxial network unit (CNU).

A method implemented in an apparatus, the method comprising:
- generating a gate message based on a registration of an endpoint at a middlebox;
- transmitting the gate message;
- receiving, from a fiber coaxial unit (FCU), a register acknowledgement message based on the gate message, the register acknowledgement message originated from a coaxial network unit (CNU);
- and
- processing the register acknowledgement message.
2 more elements
A computer program product comprising computer executable instructions stored on a non-transitory medium that when executed by a processor cause an apparatus to:
- generate a gate message based on a registration of an endpoint at a middlebox;
- transmit the gate message;
- receive, from a fiber coaxial unit (FCU), a register acknowledgement message based on the gate message, the register acknowledgement message originated from a coaxial network unit (CNU);
- and
- process the register acknowledgement message.
