Abstract
A method of quickly producing a vaccine for a biotype of pathogenic microorganism is described, where a nucleic acid molecule or fragment thereof is obtained from a biological sample from an animal exposed to the microorganism, a protective molecule is prepared based on the nucleic acid molecule of interest or fragment thereof, and administered to an animal which has been or is as risk of being exposed to the microorganism. A protective response to the biotype of the microorganism is obtained in the animal.
Claims9
A method of producing an autogenous vaccine to protect a second animal from a disease caused by a first biotype of an influenza microorganism, the method comprising,
- selecting a first nucleic acid molecule of interest encoding a hemagglutinin protein of said influenza microorganism or fragment thereof (NOI), said NOI known to be capable of producing a protective response to a second biotype of said influenza microorganism in the same species as the second animal;
- obtaining a biological sample from at least one first animal where said first animal has been exposed to said first biotype of said influenza microorganism;
- amplifying a second NOI with a sequence of said first NOI from said biological sample without the need to isolate said microorganism;
- testing to determine said first biotype of said microorganism;
- comparing said first biotype to known biotypes of microorganisms;
- determining if there has been shift or drift of said microorganism;
- producing a protective molecule comprising an RNA particle comprising a nucleic acid molecule comprising or produced from a sequence of said second NOI, if there has been shift or drift of said microorganism;
- producing a vaccine comprising said protective molecule, wherein said protective molecule does not comprise said influenza microorganism or a replicable or living pathogenic microorganism;
- and
- providing said protective molecule in said vaccine in an amount that when administered to said second animal protects said second animal from said first biotype of said influenza microorganism;
- wherein following administration of at least one of said vaccine to said second animal, said disease is not detected in said second animal.
A method of producing an autogenous vaccine to protect a second animal from a disease caused by a first biotype of an influenza microorganism, the method comprising,
- selecting a first nucleic acid molecule of interest encoding a hemagglutinin protein of said influenza microorganism or fragment thereof (NOI), said NOI known to be capable of producing a protective response to a second biotype of said influenza microorganism in the same species as the second animal;
- obtaining biological samples over a period of time, obtaining said second NOI from said samples and comparing a later obtained second NOI with an earlier obtained second NOI;
- amplifying the later obtained second NOI with a sequence from said earlier obtained second NOI from said biological sample without the need to isolate said microorganism;
- producing a protective molecule comprising an RNA particle comprising a nucleic acid molecule comprising or produced from a sequence from said later obtained second NOI;
- producing a vaccine comprising said protective molecule when said later obtained NOI is different from said earlier obtained NOI, and
- providing said protective molecule in said vaccine in an amount that when administered to said second animal protects said second animal from said first biotype of said influenza microorganism;
- wherein said protective molecule does not comprise said influenza microorganism or a replicable or living pathogenic microorganism;
- and
- wherein following administration of at least one of said vaccine to said second animal, said disease is not detected in said second animal.
A method of producing an autogenous vaccine to protect a second animal from a disease caused by a first biotype of an influenza microorganism, the method comprising,
- selecting a first nucleic acid molecule of interest encoding a hemagglutinin protein of said influenza microorganism or fragment thereof (NOI), said NOI known to be capable of producing a protective response to a second biotype of said influenza microorganism in the same species as the second animal;
- obtaining a biological sample from at least one first animal where said first animal has been exposed to said first biotype of said influenza microorganism and wherein said microorganism is subject to shift or drift;
- amplifying a second NOI with a sequence from said first NOI from said biological sample without the need to isolate said microorganism;
- producing a protective molecule comprising an RNA particle comprising a nucleic acid molecule comprising or produced from a sequence from said second NOI;
- producing a vaccine comprising said protective molecule, wherein said protective molecule does not comprise said influenza microorganism or a replicable or living pathogenic microorganism;
- and
- providing said protective molecule in said vaccine in an amount that when administered to said second animal protects said second animal from said first biotype of said influenza microorganism;
- wherein following administration of at least one of said vaccine to said second animal, said disease is not detected in said second animal;
- and
- wherein said influenza microorganism biotype is determined by comparing said second NOI nucleic acid molecule or said hemagglutinin protein encoded by said nucleic acid molecule with at least one known hemagglutinin protein encoding nucleic acid molecule or at least one known hemagglutinin protein.
