Abstract
Disclosed is a method for making a polymer or copolymer aerogel product by forming an aerogel polymer or copolymer solution in the presence of a polymer or copolymer catalyst and solvent therefor. The aerogel polymer or copolymer solution is drained onto a spinning disk or cup. The solvent is removed under aerogel forming conditions to produce the aerogel fiber web or yarn product.

Method for making a polymer aerogel product or copolymer aerogel product, which comprises the steps of:
- (a) forming a polymer cross-linked gel solution or copolymer cross-linked gel solution in the presence of a polymer catalyst and solvent therefor or copolymer catalyst and solvent therefor;
- (b) draining the polymer cross-linked gel solution or copolymer cross-linked gel solution onto a spinning disk or cup for forming a fiber web;
- and
- (c) collecting the polymer fiber web or copolymer fiber web produced from the spinning disk or cup;
- and
- (d) removing the solvent from the polymer fiber web or copolymer fiber web produced in step (c) under aerogel forming conditions to form the polymer aerogel product or copolymer aerogel product.
